MeeT The Doctors
Agustin S. Perez,DDS
If your idea of the dentist is an intimidating figure, finger-waving in your face ordering you to brush and floss, you have not met Dr. Agustin Perez. Having graduated dental school for the first time around in 1978 from the National Autonomous University of Mexico in Mexico City, then for the second time in 1991 from the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry, Dr. Perez has over 33 years of experience. His skill and expertise are matched only by his excellent chairside manner and genuine concern for his patients. Quick with a joke and a smile, even the most anxious patients find comfort in his compassion. If music helps you relax, ask him to sing you a Spanish Bolero during treatment, he would be glad to oblige. He is an avid dental techie, thriving on researching the latest advancements and acquiring the most state of the art equipment in order to deliver the best care to his patients. Not unacquainted with adversity, ask him to share his life experiences and you will find a humble attitude and a gracious spirit. He is very active in his local church where you can find him leading worship, and if you are lucky, delivering a sermon. His hobbies include, cars, gardening, and caring for his 8 grandchildren. He has been married to Judy for over 37 years.
Timothy Phillip Perez, DMD
Having joined the practice in June of 2012, Dr. Agustin’s son Dr. Tim, is a graduate of the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine. Determined to tread his own path, he avoided dental school after receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Science from Cedarville University in 2004 and instead moved to New York City to become a middle school science teacher. It was during this time in New York where he received a Master’s degree in Secondary Science Education from the City College of New York in 2007. He can vividly remember the day in the classroom when he realized that he was missing something in his professional goals, and greatly desired to pursue a career where his hand skills could be expressed. Witnessing the passion his father had, he chose to pursue the field of dentistry. He was fortunate enough to receive a scholarship to attend UConn where he received his D.M.D. in 2012. More recently, he has become an Affiliate Associate of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry (AAID) after completing 300 hours of implant training at the Rutgers School of Dental Medicine. He and his wife Iliana have two children, Alma and Lucas, who keep them busy when not in the office. They attend By Grace Community Church in Newport News.
